Journal of Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Environmental Sciences (RSGIES) is the first and only specialized journal in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) being run under the auspicious of the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS of the University of Tabriz. The short-term goal of this journal is to provide an environment for publishing the latest research findings in the field of remote sensing technology and GIS applications in environmental sciences to expand and promote research, awareness growth, scientific development, and expert knowledge in the field of geomatics and its environmental applications and help to establish scientific cooperation among researchers in these fields within the country.

The bilingual journal of Remote Sensing and GIS in Environmental Sciences of the University of Tabriz will receive Persian papers in the first step and will try to achieve its long-term goal by publishing articles in Persian and English. Utilizing the knowledge of local experts and creating an interactive environment for international cooperation of experts in this field to identify and introduce remote sensing and GIS potentialities at the national and international levels is one of the long-term goals of this publication.
